Knot Tying Workshop

200221_knotbadge.jpg

Date: Feb. 18th & 20th

Time: 7pm

Workshop: Knot Tying

Description:
The first knot most people learn is how to tie their shoes, but what if we told you that we know of an even better way to tie your shoes - and more! Not only that but we will give you the knowledge on how to tie-in a quick release for when things get iffy. Join us for our Knot Tying Workshop and be the Knot Master at your next camp out.

About Lumber Society:

Lumber Society was founded in 2013 to bring the community together and focus on getting outside and embracing nature. It's like adult scouts where you learn awesome skills, make new friends, earn patches and maybe share a drink or two. At the end of the 10 workshops you can test out and earn your Grizz Patch.

Join or Die:
That is the motto of Lumber Society. We believe that if you embrace these skills taught by Camp Master Chris Hyde then you'll be more likely to survive the first 72 hours of a zombie apocalypse.

Workshop Details:
All workshops (but two) are free to attend and take notes. The two workshops that we require you to purchase a ticket are Archery & Primitive Tool Making. We do sell tickets that can be bought to enhance your experience by giving you a handpicked survival item, a seat up front, a free drink, and guaranteed hands-on access to any activities.

National Trails Day Cleanup at the Country Club Creek

The Buzz Mill's Lumber Society has officially adopted the Country Club Creek for the next two years (at least)! We are super excited about caring for and tending to this jewel in our neighborwoods. We'll be joined by folks from the Austin Ridge Riders, Keep Austin Beautiful and YOU!

Meet at the Buzz Mill (we'll depart at 8:50am) or assemble at the end of South Pleasant Valley Road.

We will remove invasive ligustrum and pick up trash along the new mountain bike trail. We've got the gear. Dress appropriately (closed-toe shoes, long sleeves, long pants, etc.) and join us at the Buzz Mill afterward for a drink on us.

Survival Bow Making Workshop

This is a three-day workshop spread over two Thursdays and one Saturday. The Archery Workshop is the ONLY Lumber Society Workshop that we require tickets to be bought in order to attend. This is because of the amount of time and effort that is put into this workshop to make it a worthwhile experience. We don't mind if you come and listen for note taking purposes.
