Since they were kids, growing up in Houston, Michael Booher and Aaron Sinclair were bonded early on by a strong friendship and a simultaneous support of each other’s very first bands. As teenagers, they played shows together with their respective early bands. And later, as Aaron went to school in Boston, and Booher at school in Austin, they would reconnect, either for Aaron’s annual Texas family visits, or when any of their bands crisscrossed the country on tour; Booher in a band called Zykos, and Sinclair with Frank Smith, or as the drummer for a band named The Lot Six.
Booher gives his recollection of things during those days. “When my band at the time (Zykos) first toured through Boston, there was this massive spaghetti buffet that Aaron had prepared for our whole band, and then he hooked us all up with beds and a place to crash in comfort after the show, and this was right in the middle of a pretty tough tour. I remember realizing at that moment that we had each others’ backs, kinda forever.”
Fast forward to 2018, and Sinclair and Booher play on each other’s recent records and/or as permanent members in each other’s proper bands. They sing and play a variety of instruments together, arguably on their strongest material to date, further strengthened as longstanding collaborators in friendship and music.
