A.M. Rodriguez

  • The Buzz Mill 1505 Town Creek Drive Austin, TX, 78741 United States (map)

A singer-songwriter based out of Savannah, GA, A.M. Rodriguez's signature countrified blues have been taking unsuspecting audiences and offering them wrenching, honest Americana songs steeped in dark Southern tradition, and a confessional poet’s heart-worn melodies. “There’s a strong narrative quality to Rodriguez’s work, carried by the blistering, angular lilt of his vocals. An English major at University of Texas, he was primarily (and stubbornly) a fiction writer... [As] a fiction writer, Rodriguez often writes songs as varying characters, giving voices to the silenced women of country music, like in his followup to Johnny Cash’s ‘Delia’s Gone’... [Now] he’s putting his honky-tonk training to work, bringing new originals and classics to light.” -Anna Chandler, Connect Savannah
